Michael R. Huck

Michael is the founder and lead timber framer at Champlain Timbercraft LLC. He started working as a timber framer in 2000, the summer after his first year in college, but his appreciation for structures built with purpose began in high school at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut. Being surrounded by the school’s stone and timber framed buildings left a lasting impact on Michael’s love of construction, craftsmanship, and architecture. He received his B.S. in Plant and Soil Science at the University of Vermont, where he received the W. H. Darrow Horticulture Prize. Outside of work, you might find Michael gardening, tending to his bee hives or boiling maple syrup. He enjoys managing his family’s woodlot, hiking with his two dogs, and working on vehicles. Michael lives with his wife Joanna, a digital marketer, in Belmont, Vermont, where they share a love of cooking, the great outdoors, traveling to faraway places, and time spent with family and friends. Nice to meet you!
